Play Dough Recipe

Most kids love the sensation of squashing and molding play dough with their fingers.  Play dough activities are not only fun, they help support children’s development.  Make your own quick and easy play dough using this simple recipe.

4 cups flour
1 cup salt
4 cups water
4 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup cream of tartar


Mix all the ingredients.  Stir over a medium heat until smooth.  Remove from the pan.  Separate into portions and add a different food coloring to each.  Knead until smooth.  Place in an airtight container or plastic bag when cooled.  (This is non-edible play dough.) 


Provide rolling pin (can use a plastic bottle), cookie cutter and plastic utensils.
